The brief for this underused area of the grounds was to develop a space for quiet reflection, outdoor learning and gatherings.
The design references Rangitoto Islands volcanic geology, and is also informed by what we perceived to be a real strength of the College; a structured school environment in which students individuality is celebrated. Hence the water feature and planting are held together within a strong geometric grid, interrupted by large interestingly shaped boulders connecting the spaces and offering various opportunities for the students to interact.
